Pakistan Earns Global Recognition At Board Of Peace Meeting

Pakistan has received strong recognition at the first meeting of the Board of Peace in Washington, marking an important moment for the country’s diplomacy and global image.

Information Minister Attaullah Tarar said the recognition Pakistan received at the meeting was a source of pride for the nation and proof that the country’s foreign policy is moving in the right direction.

Trump’s Praise For Pakistan’s Leadership

In a video message shared by Radio Pakistan, Attaullah Tarar highlighted the way US President Donald Trump praised Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Asim Munir during the Board of Peace meeting.

He said this rare public praise from the US president for Pakistan’s leadership has increased the country’s prestige and helped Pakistan gain wider acceptance and respect on the global stage.

According to Tarar, this acknowledgment has raised Pakistan’s stature and shows that the country is now seen as an important player in international efforts for peace.

A Success Of Pakistan’s Foreign Policy

Attaullah Tarar described the development as a clear success of Pakistan’s foreign policy and a result of close coordination between the civilian and military leadership.

He noted that the strong partnership between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Field Marshal Asim Munir has allowed Pakistan to present a united stance on key international issues, especially on Palestine.

Tarar added that the confident body language of both leaders at the meeting signaled deep mutual trust, which in turn strengthened Pakistan’s image in the eyes of the world.

Pakistan’s Firm Stand On Palestine

The information minister underlined that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has repeatedly raised the Palestinian cause at every international forum, including the United Nations and the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).

At the Board of Peace meeting, the prime minister presented three key points: that Palestinians have the right to their land, that they must be granted self-determination in line with UN Security Council resolutions, and that an independent Palestinian state is essential for lasting peace.

Tarar said these clear and firm remarks echoed the sentiments of the Palestinian people and were also a source of pride for Muslims around the world.

Board Of Peace: New Platform For Gaza And Beyond

The inaugural Board of Peace meeting was held on February 19 at the US Institute of Peace in Washington, with US President Donald Trump chairing the session.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif attended the meeting on Trump’s invitation, where he called for an end to ceasefire violations in Gaza, stressing that this was vital for achieving long-term peace in the war‑torn territory.

The Board of Peace was first proposed in September 2025 as part of a 20‑point Gaza peace plan that followed a ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas earlier that year.

The body was later endorsed by the UN Security Council through Resolution 2803, adopted in November, which authorised international cooperation for Gaza’s reconstruction and gave the board both humanitarian and reconstruction responsibilities, along with a wider mandate in conflict resolution.

From Isolation To A More Confident Pakistan

Reflecting on Pakistan’s broader diplomatic journey, Attaullah Tarar said the country’s foreign policy has made significant progress in a short period of time.

He pointed out that Pakistan has moved from a phase of relative isolation to a position where its voice carries weight on critical international issues, including Gaza and Palestine.

According to Tarar, this shift shows that honest and coordinated leadership can deliver positive results and enable Pakistan to secure both recognition and respect in global forums.

Why This Moment Matters For Pakistan

The recognition Pakistan received at the Board of Peace meeting is more than just praise; it signals growing acceptance of Pakistan’s role as a constructive actor in efforts for regional and global peace.

With the country’s leadership speaking strongly for Palestinian rights, participating actively in international peace platforms, and gaining public support from key global players, Pakistan appears better positioned to shape discussions on conflict resolution and humanitarian issues in the coming years.

For many Pakistanis, this moment serves as a reminder that consistent diplomacy, clear principles and united leadership can enhance the country’s standing and open the door to deeper engagement with the international community.
